PIF

1. What is a PIF?

PIF stands for a Product Information File. A dossier must be prepared for every cosmetic product in the EU.

2. How long should it be stored?

The responsible person should store it for 10 years following the date on which the last batch of the cosmetic product was placed on the market (article 11, EU Cosmetic Regulation No. 1223/2009).

3. What is it made of?

• Description of the cosmetic product;
• Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR);
• Description of the manufacturing method and declaration of compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP);
• Proof of the effect claimed for the cosmetic product;
• Data on any animal testing performed by the manufacturer, his agents or suppliers, relating to the development or safety assessment of the cosmetic product or its ingredients.
